Happy International Women’s Day

Today is a day where we celebrate the achievements of women. So, we wanted to feature the lovely women behind the Nansletter, Emma & Zoe!

Introducing Emma!

Emma

Emma is a marketing major at Indiana University. She is currently a junior and is studying abroad in Milan, Italy. She has been at Nan’s since November 2020 as part of the marketing team! In her free time, she enjoys taking photos, traveling, and reading (her favorite author is Colleen Hoover.)

Emma’s Favorite Food at Nan’s: Spicy Kale Salad

Nan's Spicy Kale Salad

“A little spicy, a little sweet, and with crunchy nuts and delicious manchego cheese! I eat this kale salad almost every day, I can’t get enough! It makes getting your greens in taste delicious. I enjoy eating this by itself, as a side dish paired with the OG fried chicken sammie, and as a base for a grain bowl.”

Close-Up of Nan's Spicy Kale Salad

“Just like Emma, my favorite Nan’s food is the Spicy Kale! It is both of our favorite for good reason. I love the contrast of the spicy Calabrian chili & the sweet raw honey.”

Zoe’s Favorite Drink at Nan’s: Iced Dirty Chai

Nan's Iced Dirty Chai

“I love a good iced dirty chai, it is a chai latte with a shot of espresso. I typically order it with oat milk. The delicious chai mixed with the strong espresso are the perfect combination.”

Wine Recommendation

Rosé wine recommendation

“It's 50 and sunny all week. The weather is lightening up and so is the shade of wine in our glasses. I may be jumping the gun, but I'm diving head first into a gallon of rose'. This tall, slender beauty comes from the historic 'Tegernseerhof' estate in Wachau, Austria, going back over ten centuries. The shape of the bottle hints at the juice inside - lean, direct, poised. All things I think of when I think of Austrian rose. Fifth generation Martin Mittelbach winds the juice up tightly into an intense and vivid coil. Think wild green strawberries, salted watermelon skin, radish greens and zesty, limey minerals. Get this bone cold and let's have a picnic.”

Beer Recommendation

Ten Bends Beer "Sole Shine"

“Nelson Sauvin is the New Zealand "Sauvignon Blanc" of hops - adding passionfruit and gooseberry flavors that are reminiscent of your favorite white wine. Their single-hop Nelson Sauvin Pale Ale stays nice and lean at 6.2% so you can have a few without jacking up your night too quickly. Ten Bends is out of Hyde Park, Vermont and they simply do no wrong. The project started in 2012 with two friends brewing together in a shed in the woods. Now they make some of the most sought-after ales in the Northeast. This hop style also shows up in their 'Hovered Ridge' Double IPA, also available at Nan's. The 'Green Fountains' is a New England style IPA - so juicier, with less bitterness. We always have plenty of these gems on deck nice and cold, come check them out!”
